Carefree and happy-go-lucky Meher Kaur Dhillon falls in love with Manav Sharma a simple lad and an orphan who runs a local restaurant who aspires to be an IAS officer. She becomes pregnant with his child. The area's MLA Kulwant Kaur Dhillon who is Meher's mother, soon she and all her sons learns about her pregnancy with Manav's child. She refuses to accept Manav as he is financially unstable and running a local Dhabha. Kulwant invites him to her house and stabs Manav with Meher's brothers and asks Meher to marry Sarabjeet "Sarab" Singh Gill, a widower with a five year-old son Paramjeet "Param" Singh Gill and the president of the ruling party in Attari, Amrister. As Kulwant Kaur aspires to be an MLA, this was only possible for her if her daughter Meher marries Sarabjeet. Meher refuses the marriage proposal as she is in love with Manav and pregnant with his child and disagrees at first but later accepts to save her unborn child from Kulwant's ill intentions.
