This all-new adventure series follows survivalist and green enthusiast Rob Greenfield as he embarks on an epic journey with a truly fearless plan - to trek across South America with no money. That's no cash, no credit cards and nothing set up in advance of his arrival in Rio de Janeiro.
Travelling with him will be British filmmaker, James Levelle, documenting every step of their journey together and attempting to live by Rob's philosophy that you can you travel the world relying on just your ingenuity and the kindness of strangers.
Rob and James have given themselves 72 days to cross over 9,000 kilometres – but just how far will they get without any money to their names? Each day is a challenge to secure food, shelter and transportation, even when the temptation is to stop, relax and soak up their beautiful surroundings.
With Rob's more casual approach to planning, tensions heat up between him and James, as their differing approaches to survival and progressing in their challenge come to the fore. From cooking, cleaning and construction in exchange for food and shelter, to sleeping under the stars on roadsides and truck stops, and even working as cowboys on a Gaucho farm and finding a secret community of Mennonites, Rob and James are determined to succeed.
But when faced with language barriers, extreme culture clashes, violent storms, searing heat and punishing terrains, will they be able to convince complete strangers to lend a helping hand in his quest?
