The year is 1984 and the Cold War lies like a dense fog over East and West. In a rowing boat in the middle of the Åland Sea, two Swedish teenage girls are in distress at sea. Frozen and taken away, they are waiting for rescue. Suddenly they end up face to face with a submarine. It will be a meeting that will change the girls' lives forever.
