José arrives in La Mancha with the seed of doubt about his paternity sown by Justa. María tries to convince him that it is not his and José tries to get her to return to him, but although he finally leaves, the Andalusian woman becomes worried about this unexpected arrival. Ramón fades away. Dr. Calderón examines him and reminds him of his heart injury and the short time he has left to live; a secret that both have been keeping silent for a long time. Ramón surprises María and Manuel by giving them some land that he has bought, he tells them about his illness and how little time he has left to live. Concha introduces herself to the old man to inform him that her sister Carmen was faithful to her until she died and that Claudia, the bastard girl, is hers. José assures all the workers that they will remain employed and introduces them to the new guard, Justa.
