Eight more amateurs hope to impress judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace and book a place in the quarter-finals. Their first challenge is to invent and cook a dish using ingredients from the MasterChef market, after which John and Gregg decide which five cooks are good enough to stay. The remaining cooks then prepare two courses for not only John and Gregg, but also 2006 finalist Dean Edwards, 2014 champion Ping Coombes and 2005 champion Thomasina Miers.
