The world's forests are disappearing at an alarming rate as human consumption spurs ever-greater demand for new farmland. Climate change is also causing deforestation, resulting in more carbon dioxide in the air. In order to break this vicious cycle, developed nations including Japan are under pressure to take on more responsibility.
