Laura Kern is the woman most men dream of: in her late 20s, blonde, pale, a little wacky, looking a little helpless, but endlessly helpful to everyone who needs her help: be it her terminally ill father, her always ailing father children, her grumpy husband Herbert or her soulful lover David. When Laura finds her husband dead in his restaurant one evening, she can be sure of everyone's sympathy. Chief Inspector Inga Lürsen, who is investigating the murder, is also impressed by Laura.
