A family with three young children looks to spread out into their barely-finished basement, but they have no idea how. Anitra and the boys put them to work on a play loft for the kids and a custom media center that'll make family movie night shine. The grown-up half of the Mega Den comes to life with a swanky bar featuring repurposed nautical hardware, stylish bookcases and storage solutions, and sliding barn doors made from bargain-rack hollow-core doors. On the other side, the kids get a surprise combination arts-and-crafts studio and playroom, decked out in wild paint stripes running around the walls. Anitra works with some local salvage artists to custom-create a couple of killer tables from antique metalwork... and builds her own funky storage unit out of cheap garage shelving. Six-year-old Joey teams up with big Joey for some hands-on carpentry, and four-year-old Macey Jane learns the ancient Japanese art of suminagashi as they leave their own marks on the Mega Den. When it's all said and done, there's something here for everyone... in a family-friendly space no one will want to leave.
