Police ensign Kalashnikov tirelessly conflicts with his superiors and colleagues. He does not find a place for himself and at home: he rushes about all night long, hiding from imaginary pursuers, which causes concern for his neighbor in a communal apartment. Soon Kalashnikov falls under suspicion of murder.
