There is a very special bond between Grimisay in North Uist and the Monach Isles, a group of fertile machair islands surrounded by an equally bounteous sea, five miles west of North Uist - particularly through fishing. They have a fascinating history, and although they've been uninhabited since the 1930s, it's a connection that continues to this day.
Hamish Taylor from Harris, who fished in his younger days and who visited Heisger often, visits these unique islands, accompanied by others who have strong ties with the islands, among them Pàdruig Morrison. His grandfather had big plans to resettle Heisgeir and make a living there in the 1940s.
Hamish also meets Angus MacDonald who was born in Heisgeir, and he'll also explore what the future holds for this extraordinary place.
